Test on the status of the closed-loop process & annual two-day meeting of all project participants at Schöntal Monastery.
On September 13, the second M²OLIE functional test took place. As in last year‘s functional test, Professor Steffen Diehl as the physician and Professor Jan Stallkamp as the „patient“ walked through the path along the various closed-loop process steps to assess the respective progress at the stops for the overall process. The individual work packages were presented by the project team members at the respective stations. Particular attention was paid to the interfaces between the various sections of the closed loop. Following the test, the results were intensively discussed in a workshop at the M²OLIE retreat immediately afterwards in order to define the action plan for the next year. The functional test is an important tool in M²OLIE to realize the goal of a first clinical study with patients at the end of the second funding phase. Due to the ongoing Corona pandemic, the functional test took place without an audience, but with a live broadcast for all project participants.
From September 16-17, the M²OLIE retreat took place at the Schöntal Monastery. This year, the meeting focused on the M²OLIE clinical studies. On the first day, the results and findings from the functional test were first reviewed before the discussions around the clinical studies started. After eager discussions on the first day, all participants met in the evening for a guided tour through the monastery and a concluding joint barbecue buffet. On the second day, the discussions of the previous day were taken up. At the end of the retreat, small and larger clinical studies, including the persons responsible for the studies, were determined. Since then, the clinical studies are taking shape and being discussed in more detail. After a year‘s break due to the pandemic, the retreat was a much-welcomed and enjoyable meeting of all M²OLIE staff with concrete results. Like the functional test, the retreat contributes significantly to interdisciplinary networking and to the research and development „under one roof“.
