M²OLIE Retreat 2024 at the Schöntal Monastery

10.07.2024

Productive get-together in a relaxed atmosphere

The Schöntal monastery was once again the venue for the M2OLIE retreat. From July 1st to 2nd around 50 participants from academia and industry gathered here for intensive discussions and focused project planning in the Research Campus.

The retreat started on an athletic note: a joint canoe trip on the Jagst river provided not only a welcome change of pace but fostered team spirit and facilitated initial conversations in a relaxed atmosphere. At the venue, the program kicked off with an official welcome by the M²OLIE Steering Committee, delivered by Professor Stefan Schönberg and Professor Armin Heinzl. The first day then focused on a detailed presentation of the current status of the jury’s requirements for the upcoming 3rd funding phase. The evening concluded with the M²OLIE team enjoying their traditional barbecue in the courtyard of the monastery.

The second day began with three intriguing lectures: Professor Carmen Wängler from the Medical Faculty Mannheim at the Heidelberg University talked about the orientation of M²OLIE in the 3rd funding phase. Professor Hans-Jürgen Hennes, the Medical Director of the University Hospital Mannheim, reported on the current status of the M²OLIE Clinic and its potential. Professor Steffen Diehl from the University Medical Centre Mannheim provided information on the latest developments regarding the installation of the interventional MRI in building 35. Afterwards, the participants worked in small groups on the detailed project planning for the four modules of the 3rd funding phase. The teams defined milestones and interfaces and appointed representatives to the project committee. The constructive input provided clear guidance and important impulses for the upcoming phase.

The Administration Office would like to thank all participants for their commitment and productive cooperation!
